Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer?

I offer psychological services to adults, including individual, couples, and family therapy.  My clients seek guidance to resolve emotional dyregulation, and learn to develop healthy strategies for emotional balance.  I support individuals challenged with emotional distress, women seeking work/life balance, new mothers adjusting to their new role, adult children of immigrants, and individuals navigating through life transitions.  Additionally, I provide clinical supervision to pre-licensed clinicians.  For clients residing in California, I offer telehealth (virtual) sessions using a HIPAA-compliant platform to protect your privacy and confidentiality.  Traditional in-person sessions are also available as requested.

What is therapy and what can I expect?

Therapy is intended to be an interactive and collaborative process between you and a skilled clinician, designed to help you focus on addressing the issues that are most important to you.  It is a time for you to explore your deep thoughts, emotions, relationship dynamics, and history of lived experiences–all of which impact your emotional and behavioral heath and contribute to your well-being.  Therapy is also a time to make a commitment to yourself to work toward the positive changes that will foster personal growth and develop skills necessary for you to thrive.

When you’re ready to begin, please reach out for your initial no-fee 15-minute telephone consultation to see if therapy may be helpful to you.  Once you decide to begin therapy, you will be asked to complete the intake paperwork, which includes the informed consents and disclosures.  We will then complete an
assessment of your needs at your initial intake appointment, and set goals for treatment.  Our regularly scheduled weekly sessions may be held via telehealth or in-person.  Once we near your targeted goals in treatment, we can prepare a successful discharge plan.

What do you specialize in?

I specialize in helping individuals who struggle with emotional and behavioral dysregulation.  I help clients who are challenged with reactive stress, sadness, loss, trauma, life transitions, or have other clinical disorders such as depression and anxiety.  I also offer an integration of cross-cultural/Asian-American perspective into treatment for individuals who find it difficult addressing their emotional needs in the context of their cultural identity.

Are you licensed to practice?

Yes,  I have been licensed and actively practicing since June 2006.  My California Board of Psychology license number is PSY20846.

What are your fees for services ?

I am happy to provide a no-fee 15-minute initial phone consultation to discuss your concerns, answer any questions you may have, and establish your readiness for treatment.  The standard fee for the initial intake session is $295; follow-up individual psychotherapy sessions are $250 (50-minutes); and follow-up couples/family psychotherapy sessions are $275 (60-minutes).  Payment is required when services are rendered.

Please consult your health insurance company to verify your in- or out-of-network behavioral health coverage.  I will be happy to provide a superbill to you to submit for reimbursement for out-of-network insurance claims.  Please be advised that most insurance plans will require an official mental health diagnosis for reimbursement, which will be included in your medical record.

What is your cancellation policy?

Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you.  If you need to cancel or reschedule, please kindly give a minimum of 24-hours advanced notice to avoid incurring a charge for the full fee of the session.
